竹東鎮位於台灣新竹縣中心，原本是原住民泰雅族聚集狩獵地，清朝時廣東客家移民大量進駐，所以自古就是客家、漢人、原住民等多元文化的匯集地，也是新竹縣溪南地區的工商重鎮。隨著1973年工業技術研究院設置於頭重里，以及1980年新竹科學園區設置於西鄰的新竹市東區之後，竹東鎮早已從樟腦、石油鑽探、水泥、玻璃工業、林業的集散中心，轉型為高科技研發中心。
走過一甲子歷史的竹東市場，是全國規模最大的客家傳統市場，更是一扇融合了多元民族、多元產業風貌的櫥窗。
此次「浪漫台三線藝術季」便選定在此市場內推出「竹東浪漫好食光」展區，策展方向主要從傳統客家市場與客家傳統保存食出發，透過藝術與設計能量導入，讓遊客能了解到客家保存及傳統飲食文化的智慧之處，並搭配市場暢遊及具創意客家餐桌、小鎮風情小旅行等互動式活動，期待能創造出新的客家市場美學與美食體驗，讓民眾體驗道地客家文化與竹東小鎮的魅力。

Locating in the Center of Hsinchu County in Taiwan, Zhudong Township was originally the Atayal tribe’s hunting ground. In Qing Dynasty, there were numerous Guangdong Hakka immigrants moving in, so it was a multi-cultural influx of Hakka, the Hans and the Aboriginal people since ancient time and also a key location for industry and commerce of Xinan District in Hsinchu County.
This activity, “Romantic Route 3” chooses Zhudong Market which is embedded sixty years of history as the exhibition area for “Have a good time! Zhudong” It is not only the biggest Hakka traditional market around Taiwan, but also a display of multi-ethnic and multi-industrial collaboration. The direction of curating begins with the traditional Hakka market and traditional Hakka food preservation, mingling with arts and designs so that visitors can understand the wisdom of Hakka traditional food preservation and food culture.
In combination with market touring and those interactive activities such as the creative Hakka dining table or township traveling, the curating expects to create a new style of Hakka market aesthetics and food experience so that people can truly experience the local Hakka culture and the charming Zhudong Township.
